stop lossesAs I understand the logic of a stop loss, it is a means of disciplining the investor to avoid extreme losses. I have used them in years past but no longer. The logic is that I need to pre-determine the set amount of loss that I am prepared to accept. I cannot make this decision at the time I am faced with it, because I am likely to be emotionally ill-equipped and will fall prey to false hopes and a delusional belief that my stock will eventually recover. In my view, there are better means of risk management, and you should have the confidence in yourself to make decisions in the moment based on circumstances at the time. Using stop-losses at this point is likely to result in a sale of the shares at the lower end of the trading range, at a time when most considered analysts and logic itself would tell you that its a time to buy, for future gains, not to sell.
