My thoughts precisely. That would be a move upward rather than sideways.

Getting involved with a partner who is US focussed would be a mistake. The uranium resources in each area are so different, as is the sentiment in each jurisdiction. The Athabasca Basin is UEX home ground. They have the expertise there and it is a very friendly jurisdiction (CRDN issue is not a problem for UEX at all). 

I like the fact that DML is advancing a mining method new to the Basin (ISR). Although it is presently only being applied to Wheeler, it could be applied to some of UEX's resources as well. A DML/UEX merger (DUEX??) would be better able to compete with the dominant player there... Cameco.
