RE:+$170 US million in deals not yet announced Wilander, if you were to get any more hysterical in your eruptions I would think it possible that you'd achieve escape velocity and fly off into space, never to be seen again, at least on this planet. What a terrible loss it would be for this esteemed forum--and Quarterhill.
ETC news appearing on the ETC site (but not Quarterhill's) could be explained in terms of a desire to make ETC's US contracts appear as US (i.e., made in America) as possible.
Note that there have been many instances in the past of news appearing on the IRD site but not Quarterhill's. Some may have been first pointed out here by Wilander. (Admittedly, these were nowhere near such big news items as these recent ETC contracts.)
At the end of the day I largely agree with you that big Quarterhill news items (ETC or otherwise) should not be (pre)announced on some subsidiary's site prior to making their way to the Quarterhill newsfeed. But your ravings on this issue are wildly out of proportion. I'm FAR more concerned that the contracts were actually signed. And I'm sure the market is also.
This issue does highlight something that no doubt is going to be a challenge for Bret Kidd. It shouldn't surprise anyone if the people at ETC were nervous about having ETC's highly-advanced IP spread around the entire Quarterhill organization--i.e., all over the world. And it's there for all to see that ETC's "riteSuite" is NOT (yet) on IRD's website (or even Sensor Line's or VDS's!). Yet we know that Quarterhill (and ETC) ultimately want what is all the same company to become a tolling (and congestion pricing) powerhouse all around the world--and not just in the US.
Tackling this is Bret's job and I'm pretty sure he'll get there. I think it's good that someone from ETC is now in charge of this next stage of the company's evolution. We now don't need to worry about Toronto vs. Texas tension issues.
The day may come when Quarterhill will get rid of all four subsidiary websites. Or maybe the company (Quarterhill) will change its name to ETC. That might be done as part of Quarterhill and ETC amalgamating (?). These are complex questions of branding and corporate structure.
Wilander, relax. This stuff will be worked out in good time.
