$CULT.C Food Science Taking Food Production Into The New Age

$CULT.C Food Science Taking Food Production Into The New Age

It’s no secret that in its current state, the meat industry is detrimental to the planet’s environment. However, a recent report suggests that the industry is even more unsustainable than previously expected.

By 2050, the animal meat industry will need to increase its size by 70%, making its impact on the environment exponentially more damaging. Although meat production is growing at a rate of 2% to 3% per year, it is still an inefficient way to produce calories.

Animals account for only 17% of global caloric consumption, with only 33% of global protein intake coming from meat and dairy combined. This means making the switch from traditional methods of protein production is more crucial than ever as the industry’s inefficiencies become more apparent with its growth.

This current pressing state of the industry has led a plethora of companies to consider and invest in plant-based, cell-based, and lab-cultivated forms of protein. This drive is supported by consumer demand for more ethical and sustainable products, as U.S. retail sales of plant-based foods rose 11.4% last year, and 29% in the past two years.

Innovative investment platform CULT Food Science (CULT:CSE) offers a wide exposure to some of the most innovative companies looking to bring food production into the new age. The company has a large focus on lab-grown and cultivated cell-based protein, however, they have a very broad portfolio including companies looking to disrupt the traditional production methods of chocolate, honey, and milk alike.

Shares of $CULT.C have seen gains of over 65% in the last couple of weeks, supported by steadily increasing trading volume. I have high hopes for the company going forward, as it is obvious that something needs to change with this industry if we have a shot at living on this planet in a hundred years.
