FPX is literally surrounded by other mines and has a significantly higher NPV than CNC even without accounting for byproduct credits. The startup costs aren't *that* much higher than CNC, especially if you consider that Mark Selby's PEA assumed somebody else would build a steel mill next door to him.
Moreover, the unique mineralogy of awaruite enables FPX to bypass smelting completely, which is a huge deal from a carbon emissions perspective.
