Yes there is bull on both sides though really the argument that the Ukraine is the west’s fault because we didn't account for how hurt Putins feelings were is complete utter nonsense.
The Russian military is inept. They have spent much of their military budget partially on high-tech prototypes (that often don’t even do what they claim they can do) for programs they want others countries to finance. The other part of the budget pays for Generals to party in Moscow discos. What’s left over goes to the actual military and a stalled for two weeks 50 mile broken down convey is the result.
Why hasn't Russia been able to establish air superiority over Ukraine? Well it's because they don’t have the ability to do so. They have no ability to finesse.
The Ukrainians are fighting back not because they are the wests “puppets" it’s because they, the Ukrainian people, don't want to be subjugated. True not all the Ukrainians fighting are people I would admire though that is not a justification for this the slaughter to come.
The Russian conscripts are undisciplined and unmotivated. All Putin can do is terrorize the Ukrainian cities by bombing hospitals and dropping cluster bombs like Aleppo. It will be blood bath. He's gonna level the cities because that is the only option the Russian military has the capability to do. They don’t have smart bombs just dumb ones. There will be no concern for the humanitarian horror and crisis it will create.

I was bullish on oil long before this unnecessary mess. On my father’s side we come from a village just on the Polish side of the border with Ukraine. This unnecessary war breaks my heart. This is going to rearrange the world forever. It may actually really screw things up bad. It certainly won’t hurt the prospects for Suncor. I know they didn’t plan it this way and likely would wish it wasn’t under these circumstances that their prospects as a major oil producer and refiner in North America are now made even so much better.
