As you point out lower grades require more water which in Chile and Peru must be desalinated and pumped up to 8000 feet - not a cheap source of water.
Some mines pump from aquifers - when drained are empty - farmers are upset with mines using water which is finite. They may get shut down with the current local political situation.
Lower grade means more trucking, more crushing, more chemicals per pound of copper - in general much higher expenses.
CMMC is looking good but the broken crusher is heartbreaking.
Suppose crusher parts are not stocked on shelves.
CMMC is good at replying to questions so should be able to provide updates on what is happening on site.
