Roger's owns the Jays outright but the Raptors, Leaf's etc are owned in a JV/ partnership with Bell - Roger's owning about a third. But TSN has all the broadcast rights as Roger's has no TV interests.

so drop the Jay's into an arrangement with Corus' Global assets and then rip a % of the other teams TV and hive that % to Global from TSN . CRTC would love to see more competition in the sports side of broadcasters imo.

Not sure if I'm missing something here but Rogers not only owns all the teams but the also own Sportsnet - so they can shut Bell out at any time of sports content cause they own the teams and the network. They throw TAN scraps  here and there with a few raptors and blue jay games etc  - so where is this conversation going  Rogers won't do anything with takeover debt now and CRTC likely won't allow a reduction to two major broadcasters   Rogers will have to sell some Shaw assets per the CRTC

Roger's just agreed to stream the Stack TV - presumably under the advice of the Shaw family. Roger's owns the sports teams but Bell makes all the money from the TV audience via their ownership of TSN.

Roger's could cut out TSN and hurt Bell - who isn't their best friend.

The Shaws pretty much only hold the voting stock - in other words they control all the votes but have around 3% of the equity. A little misbalanced even by TSX standards imo.

i am confused on what happens to Corus now the deal looks to be going ahead with Rogers, i read that Rogers had no interest in owning Corus, i understand Shaw no longer owns it but the Shaw family hold most of the shares so if it is not owned by Shaw why would it go to Rogers? Would the family just take it private and buy us out?

I knew of the jv but how can TSN have the tv rights and Bell get the revenue if Rogers has the Blue Jays and the games are on Sportsnet? Is the Rogers deal with Shaw a positive for Corus do you feel? All confusing to me i grew up in an era of 3 tv channels, no day time tv and no tv after 10pm!
