Guy Lafleur Has PassedAnother Friday and another sad loss.
Guy Lafleur has passed away. Not only was he a great player but more importantly he was a very nice man. A kind man. It is so sad.
Being a Montrealer, I can tell you tell you that we are hockey crazy here, and Guy was huge in this city. He was loved by all Montrealers and Quebecers.
My father took me often to games at the Forum when I was a young boy and I got to meet a lot of the greatest hockey players of all time:
Gordie Howe, Maurice the Rocket Richard (spoke to him a lot because he lived close to my house where I grew up), his brother the Pocket Rocket Henri Richard, Jean Beliveau, Dickie Moore, Ken Dryden, Serge Savard, Steve Shutt, Larry Robinson, Gaetan Houle, Patrique Roy and the list goes on.
Guy was down to earth, very approachable and always with a nice smile and always had time to pay attention to you. He was very much like Jean Beliveau - known as Le Gros Bill to Quebecers and as Gentleman Jean to the rest of English Canada. Both very nice men that achieved massive superstardom in my province but were everyday down to earth men who were very approachable and alwasy had time for people.
Last Friday it was Mike Bossy that passed, another Montrealer, and I was lucky to have met him as well. Both Guy and Mike were nice men.
May they both rest in peace.
