Belo and Government of Para State are partners. The government of Para avoided commenting on the irregular purchase of 21 land reform settlement lots by Canadian mining company Belo Sun in Volta Grande do Xingu, which took place earlier, according to Incra, a federal agency. Asked by Estado about what measures the management of Helder Barbalho would take in relation to the case, the government of Par limited itself to answering: "The Secretary of Environment and Sustainability of Para (Semas) informs that the installation license for the aforementioned enterprise is suspended since 2017, by court decision". The fact is that, in the same way that Incra is now joining the Canadian mining company to profit from the gold that will be taken from a settlement, the government of Para has partnered with Belo Sun in a project to build a gold refinery in the state. . In February, during an event held by Governor Helder Barbalho, at Palcio dos Despachos, in Belm, "a protocol of intentions" was signed with six mining companies, including Belo Sun. Helder Barbalho said, at the time, that the idea is to implement "the largest gold refinery in the country" within Para, with the support of these companies. Belo Sun states that its Volta Grande Project will have a total investment of R$1.22 billion.
