I believe that the company and industry insiders are way ahead of retail investors to know if there is any extraordinary production data, so not basing my decisions on anything else other than the information provided in quarterly reports, presentations and press releases.
As far as Pipestone, their major shareholders are holding convertible preferred shares which should be automatically converted to a large number of common stock about in September or October at a nice 85 cents. They will most likely wait until then before contemplating any transactions.
In any event, I am happy to hold SDE for as long as commodity markets are strong. Not betting on any mergers or acquisitions which always come unexpected.
