RE:RE:OT but wow Strathcona to buy Serafina Energy for C$2.3 blnThat's $70,000 per flowing barrels Stathcona is paying for
Sask heavy crude. When they bought Tucker, they became a potential AXE customer with one thermal. Now with Serafina purchase they become a higher potential AXE customer with many thermal properties.
Core Areas
The heavy oil in this region is of high quality, with up to 22m net pay, 10 – 12 degree API and as such responds well to thermal recovery processes (compared to the more viscous 8 degree API bitumen in the Alberta oil sands). Our facilities use proven SAGD technology to recover remaining reserves from existing heavy oil pools that have come to the end of their primary production ability. Our core areas are proximal to services, pipeline and rail terminals.
Edam
The Serafina Edam facility achieved production in 2016, and has exceeded nameplate production capacity. Edam was fabricated using a modular, repeatable facility design, enabling efficient construction.
Meota West 1
Meota West 1 was our second repeatable facility to be constructed and achieved production in 2018. Serafina's development of Meota West demonstrated top tier cost efficiency, construction duration, and production ramp timing.
Meota East
The Serafina Meota East facility initiated production in February 2020. This facility is repeatable in design, modular and represents the third iteration of Serafina's stock thermal facility to be successfully constructed in Saskatchewan.
Meota West 2
Meota West 2 is our fourth repeatable facility to be constructed and achieved production in March 2021. Meota West 2, much like our other facilities, demonstrated top tier cost efficiency, construction duration, and production ramp timing.
Future Projects
Future projects within our core areas are currently in various stages of development.
