Now back to - The Economy, Copper demand and China

Now back to - The Economy, Copper demand and ChinaI only get a glimpse of what's going on in China, by design of their government.  But a lot is happening that will have a substantial effect upon world trade and copper demand.

For example: “Since July, six provinces and cities in southern China, including Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Chongqing and Sichuan, have been affected by drought, with 830,000 people having difficulty accessing drinking water and nearly 645,000 hectares (1.5 million acres) of crops damaged, according to the water ministry.”

Or: “China's State Grid also promised to do its utmost to dispatch power to the neighbouring Sichuan province, which normally supplies large amounts of surplus hydroelectricity to the east, but is now imposing strict consumption controls.
Companies with operations in Sichuan, including CATL, the world's largest battery maker, and Japan's Toyota (7203.T), have suspended production in the province as a result of the restrictions, media reports say.”

We will see if the incredible expansion of the Chinese economy over these last few decades has produced a financial structure that can withstand a Lehmann moment that threatens political stability.  Climate change will be p particularly severe due to the relatively low topography.
