I had similar, but shorter experience with WML. This supposed to be a kill. The owe at least of 25% of Atacama and about half of other prospective salars in Chili. 
They done nothing with them! I run frome it with losses...

Chili gov't put so much hurdles that slow down too many, but it seem to be changing.
I do not want to tell "this time is different", but fractured ownership in combination with government pressure is tough.
Gov't changed, now it will be one company. LPI, also, did not care as much while waiting as they had rocks to explore. Now it will be Salar focused, one company, one management.
As important, unlike WML, Maricunga went through exploration process and developed, too slow, but still.
Mitsui is, probably, not as active, but when merge happened. We may hear more financing negotiation and when it struck, then everything changes.
