Whitecap Resources Inc. is an oil-weighted growth company. The Company is engaged in the business of acquiring, developing and holding interests in petroleum and natural gas properties and assets. Its core areas include the West Division and East Division. Its West Division is comprised of three regions: Smoky, Kaybob and Peace River Arch (PRA). The properties in its Smoky region include Kakwa and Resthaven, all located in Northwest Alberta. The primary reservoir being developed is the Montney resource play, mainly comprised of condensate-rich natural gas. Kaybob is located in the Fox Creek region of Northwest Alberta. The primary reservoir being developed is the Duvernay resource play, mainly comprised of condensate-rich natural gas. The PRA is its original asset area. The appreciation in the $ Cad is one factor that I didn't consider and I can see that it would help to explain Friday. However , given the magnitude and unusual rise in Nat Gas and especially WTI, it is hard for me to believe that it is the only factor. Personally, I think that a number of factors were at work, possibly even the Friday factor.
If these oil and gas prices hold through Monday, I predict a better performance for O and G stocks than we saw on Friday.
As for WCP, I have nothing negative to say about the Company, management or it's performance over the last 2 years. I continues to be one of my go to energy stocks !
