RE:RE:Youtube video on Cargill's Cayuga salt mine risks Cargill has already shut down the Avery salt mine in Louisiana due to flooding that resulted in deaths. Now we have this story of the major risks at another Cargill mine. Cargill revenues are around $130 billion a year so my bet is that they have their eye on Great Atlantic and they deffinitely have the money to buy it for cash. Cargill isn't a publicly traded company.

Cargill's Cayuga salt mine is the deepest mine in North America and supplies most of the salt used in New York state. Keep all that in mind as you watch this Youtube video.

So i think what most people are missing here is how close this mine is to the Marcellus Shale area of PA. Little to the North sits Lake Cayuga, with the Cargill mine underneath. Shale areas are fracked and leave big voids once emptied and thus are known to have a high incidence of earthquakes. Once that ground starts to go, all hell can break loose. Cargill might be wise to have a backup llan...
