I mentioned again yesterday that 2023 is shaping up to be very good for Baytex , most importantly , those out of the money hedges will all expire tomorrow . The 18% that is hedged is at very attractive prices , Clearwater continues to add FCF in a very profitable way and debt has been cut in half . Considering the rise in interest rates , the money BTE is saving on interest alone shows how smart that strategy has been . Production is up 10K barrels from last year , we have a complete suite of crude oil grades and the financial freedom to develope further shareholder value .
We just needed to get through December which we seem to have navigated safely .
Hard to believe that the very day BTE is free of those crappy hedges expired would result in a selloff , I know it was sector wide but the hate-on that Toronto has for Alberta and O&G in general makes me shake my head . The only sector making money is #1 on the hit list , sad but true . My guess is no news or updates , just radio silence .
