Two Dominican ambassadors in Commonwealth countries in the Caribbean region highlighted the potential that its geographical location represents for this province to develop exports of agricultural products and other items to the markets of Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Saint Vincent and Guyana. .
Ambassadors Angie Martnez, from Jamaica, and Wellington Bencosme, from Trinidad & Tobago, Saint Vincent and Guyana, agreed that the proximity of San Juan de la Maguana to these islands would facilitate trade and investment.
The diplomats took part in a meeting organized in the Bishopric of this province by the Economic Development Plan, with the support of the Round Table of the Commonwealth Countries in the Dominican Republic and the Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD).
The meeting was attended by Juan Luis Bonilla, executive director of the San Juan Development Plan; Fernando Gonzlez Nicols, president of the Board of the Commonwealth, and Osmar Benitez, executive president of the JAD.
Also, Elvira Corporn, provincial governor; Hanoi Snchez, mayor; Jacqueline Sosa, president of the San Juan de la Maguana Chamber of Commerce, and Jos Cedeo, from Prodominicana.
At the meeting it was explained that the San Juan Development Plan, directed by Luis Bonilla, seeks ways to export the items that are produced in the provinces of San Juan and Elas Pia.
For his part, Gonzlez Nicols said that this area has great potential to develop new export markets to the Caribbean islands and to other Commonwealth countries.
For his part, Ambassador Wellington Bencosme emphasized the importance of creating connections with these countries and representatives of the productive sectors of the two provinces, in coordination with the different official entities.
While the ambassador Angie Martnez showed her conviction "of the enormous potential that San Juan has to produce and together we will look for the markets that we need, with the appropriate technical assistance, accompaniment and economic support."
While Osmar Bentez made recommendations to the agricultural sector of San Juan to be successful in conquering export markets in the Caribbean region and referred to market niches.
Finally, the businessman Isidro Sosa pointed out that "San Juan has a new awakening, and we value that, we are inserting ourselves in activities that will contribute enormously to the development of our province and we are willing to offer the broadest cooperation to the government in this project is being implemented”.
