A sobeys scene+ oddity I may be missing something here or maybe I just discovered something , so bare with me on this thought:
1) Sobeys Scene+ point offers on the Paper flyer are via either:
(A) a bar code in a little add at bottom of a page .. as per old school. Ex: Spend 100$ get 500 points..
Or
(B) per item offers like buy 4 get 25 pts in the item ads. -which seems to be a no opt in needed offer to everyone.
2) in the Scene+ app you get 2 kinds of offers with a button ,
(A) an 'activate offer' much like PC Optimum uses (ex 100pt per 2$ spend on pears this wk) to opt into the offer.
OR
(B) a 'get coupon' ... which is for things like 1A.
2B is interesting since when you click it, it doesn't give you a 'coupon', it just brings you to the digital version of the flyer , and there is a prominent 'print flyer' button.
So, to my little mind (and drawing on my former IT developer life, -tricks to get something up and running using stopgaps) I see the ' get coupon' button is the future hook into a digital coupon system that has not-yet-been deployed and they are using the static flyer as a stop gap. Otherwise why didn't they take you to printable or digital image coupon? .. easy .. that would take more effort to implement and not worth it since the real solution is in the pipe, so just throw up the flyer for now.
I'll leave it there for others to speculate on what final backend for getting a coupon could be , but 8112 is obviously likely.. but it begs the question ...whose engine ..?
