Stock options that are granted?  Companys sometimes require senior executives to buy and hold shares personally to ensure their personal financial objectives are aligned with the company. Entry level is typically a years salary based on share price when position began to multiple years salary for more senior executives. I personally know one VP that had to sell his house to free up funds to meet his minimum requirement for his new position. It didn't work out well for him we him in 2020 as share price was decimated and he was let go. He bounced back very well and is now the CEO of a TSX company which some here might own. 


In your occupation things like this don't happen but executives are rewarded for performance in most industries.
