But even if you owned Newmarket before KL bought it, I doubt you made much money because it was an unremarkable open pit mine that just started the underground mining phase of operations when KL bought it, with KL hitting the motherlode in the Swan and Eagle zones after the purchased Newmarket - one of the best bargain takeouts in gold mining history, and timed perfectly by KL after Eric Sprott (then with KL) sent geologist Quinton Hennigh to Fosterville to check out Newmarket's early-stage underground operation and came back telling Sprott that the mine had enormous upside potential based on what he saw.
