Telemedicine Nurse Practitioner
Care Oncology - Remote
From $40 an hour

Position Overview:

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for managing individualized patient care by promoting and restoring patients' health through the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; and supervising assigned team members. The NP is an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, working closely with our doctors, fellow nurses, patient coordinators and records team.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

· Master of Science in Nursing

· Multistate Licenses

· Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

· Current licensure in good standing in the state of practice, and all other states where license is held

· Evidence of 3 years of nursing experience in oncology, palliative care and/or integrative medicine

· Exceptional organizational skills

· Ability to communicate effectively, multi-task and work under pressure

· Experience with education, consultation, motivational interviewing, and support with oncology patients

· Ability to quickly learn multiple cloud-based communication and EMR systems

· Self-starter, driven, problem-solver, and committed to achieving customer satisfaction

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and demonstrate flexibility

· Ability to work independently and in a team environment with efficiency, accuracy, and professionalism with minimal supervision

· Ability to uphold HIPAA compliance

Essential Functions/Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Provide in depth training to nurses and doctors onboarded
  • Develop educational and training materials
  • Conducts an individualized patient assessment, prioritizing the data collection based on the patient’s immediate condition or needs within timeframe specified by client facility’s policies, procedures, or protocol
  • Prescribe medications in licensed state(s)
  • Comfortable with use of tele-nursing including telephone and video interactions as well as email
  • Collaborates with the patient/family and the multidisciplinary team to facilitate care coordination processes utilizing nursing process. Assist with on-boarding of medications and monitoring and educating re: medication side effect
  • Utilizes standing medical orders for adjustment to medications as needed for side effects
  • Monitors laboratory values and communication with physician and patient if laboratory values are abnormal
  • Meet with patient/family related to side effects, questions related to protocol, questions related to basic information related to nutrition and supplement concerns
  • Utilizes nursing team and physicians as colleagues with different levels of expertise; comfort in asking others for assistance when additional level of expertise is needed
  • Communicates with physicians related to patient concerns, patient status and updates
  • Maintains appropriate response times on Help Scout
  • Thorough and accurate documentation of patient interactions in EMR and Help Scout
  • Maintains relationships with partner pharmacies as required for medications
