New Timmins assay lab set for April opening

Facility is the second in the Americas for MSALABS

MSALABS is targetting late April for the opening of its new assay lab in Timmins.

Headquartered in Langley, B.C., the company operates assay labs — used to analyze ore for its metallic properties — across the globe.

Its Val d’Or, Que., location, which came online in 2022, is the company’s first in the Americas. Its Timmins location will be the second.

In its analysis, the company uses a proprietary PhotonAssay technique, developed by Chrysos Corp. in Australia, which uses high-energy X-rays to isolate the metals.

It purports to be safer, faster, more accurate, cheaper, and more environmentally friendly than the traditional fire assay method.

The new Timmins MSALABS office is located on Algonquin Blvd.
