RE:RE:RE:I think.....most are missing the pointCan't help myself commenting on this one. CNN did a Bill Weir show last night where
he interviews several of the top scientists /geophysicists(they are all PHD guys) who
are involved in practical working projects to scale in various locations around the
world for CO2 reduction and carbon sequestrration. The projects were both innovative and practical and is some cases had economic beneifts. They were
impressive and brilliant IMO.
Now my point is, if scientists can come up with ideas such as these, why on earth
can't they come up with a practical, economic solution for neutralizing settling ponds
and recycling clean water back into the environment? Why can't Suncor and other
oil sands operaters get these briiliant type people to work on this? I would think it
would be a no brainer for top mgmt. and the scientitsts who are highly motivated
people in trying to solve big problems regarding GHG's etc would clamour to help
Suncor and others with this issue. The PR spinoff would be huge for both the
companies and the scientists and the environment would certainly benefit. Instead
of coming before an inquiry board and appologizing, how about getting out of
the bubble and getting these brilliant minds to work on stuff like this? Really its
a disgrace and a blight on Suncor and the other oil sands operators that this
situation exists. I am not de facto opposed to our oil sands but they need to get
off their butts and clean up their operations a lot more yet.
