Trying to do my due diligence.

Trying to do my due diligence.I may not be the sharpest pencil in the pocket protector, but here are my 2 cents.

Got up this morning and said to the wife that I need to call Kingsdale as I have not received my package yet. I also said that I'd probably get it in the mail tonight.

Called Kingsdale 3x. Finally left a message on the third try. I then engaged Kingsdale in their individual chat on their website. Sheila said to me that unless I had my control number, she could not help me. She then asked me how I was voting. I did not think that query was appropriate.

Eventually, someone from CMMC (?) called me to ask if they could help. I never reached out directly to CMMC. I told them unless they had a control number they could not assist me.

Contacted CIBC Investors Edge. They said they would get me a control number and send it to me in e-mail. Still waiting.

Got home, and my phone directory sized package had arrived. I really want to have a good go through it because I want do my due diligence. Unfortunately, this is not possible with the size of the package and the amount of time remaining until I have to get my vote in.

I did skim through it. On page I-3 I found an interesting nugget. CIBC states in their assessment that they entered into an Engagement Agreement in connection to the proposed transaction on September 14, 2022. So this has been discussed for quite a while. Well before the announcement that Gil was retiring and Patrick Merrin was taking over on March 16th, 2023.

My thanks to woody999 for this nugget:  "They even gave that new ceo a severence cheque for 2.5 million, without even doing a days work". (I'm going to trust you, woody999, as I am not going to spend a few days trying to find this in the package. They should have sent us a searchable .pdf)

My initial gut feeling was that the offer was too low. I have read all of the reports from the big boys that this is a good offer and I was leaning towards voting yes a few days ago, but when they pull a stunt like the one I just described, I find it hard to trust them with my best interests.

Best of luck to us all.
