Provided for in the 2018-2023 coalition agreement, the law on the decriminalization of recreational cannabis “will be debated and voted on in public session during the week of June 26”, indicates this Wednesday the Chamber of Deputies on its website.
As a reminder, the text provides for authorizing adult residents to grow up to four plants at home, from seed. Plants should not be visible from the public space. Consumption must also be done at home under penalty of being fined up to 250 euros.
No sale to minors and non-residents
The State will control the production chain (two producers planned in Luxembourg), the points of sale and the price. To buy cannabis from one of the 14 places of sale, you must be a resident and be at least 18 years old.
The points of sale must ensure, through the common computer system, that the maximum quantity of 5 grams per day, acquisition and customer is not exceeded. During a meeting of the Justice Committee on Wednesday, Minister Sam Tanson recalled that the consumption of recreational cannabis in penitentiary centers will remain prohibited.
