The mining adviser to the Executive Branch, assured that the Romero project of the Swiss-Canadian Gold and Quest Company, in San Juan de la Maguana, has the ideal conditions to carry out a “model, environmentally friendly mining in the Dominican Republic and the world”.
The engineer Miguel Pea said that "this Romero site has been misinterpreted, requested by a large part of San Juan society, due to the lack of socialization."
He said that this deposit has the ideal conditions for a model underground mine
Pea explained that it can be a model, because it is located precisely in an extractor at a depth of about 200 meters deep, where the casing rock is a sealed volcanic rock, where there is no percolation of water and in a place where hydrogeology has a "very robust" behavior.

In the same way, he said that due to the aforementioned, there is no way that in said place there is a structural dilution in the operational part of the mine or that there can be drilling from the surface towards the mine, once operations are carried out.
In another sense, the mining expert said that the La Rosario mine, which failed in its operations and productivity, today has become one of the most productive entities for the national economy.
Regarding whether in some regions of the country there is the possibility of finding hydrocarbons, the expert in the field of mining maintained that in the southern zone, specifically, in the provinces of Azua and San Juan de la Maguana, there is potential for hydrocarbons in these geological faults, highlighting that studies by some specialists from the city of Texas, USA, confirm this by carrying out various models in this regard.
The expert referred to the term "Rare Earth" which is no more than those places in the world, barely four, where all or most of the elements that are located on the sixth line of the Periodic Table appear, because they are oxides that have very specific compositions along the lines of Los Lantanidos.
