So your original story was fully automated front to back but now contracted.. ? Maybe they are contracting robots..yeah thats the ticket... contracted robots.

"The company manufactures electronics using a very sophisticated and automated manufacturing line. It's virtually hands free.

The assembly of complete units is quite automated as well using the components coming from 3rd party suppliers.

It would not surprise me to learn that post assembly testing is also automated.
