Stockchase After the Close

Tuesday markets returned most of the gains made in Monday’s rally, led by tech. The Nasdaq closed -1.04%, the S&P -0.57% and the Dow -0.05%. 

Oracle plunged 13.5% after reporting. Apple unveiled new products but declined 1.71%. Meanwhile, Tesla closed -2.23%, Occidental Petroleum gained 4.06% and Keycorp 5%. The U.S. 10-year yield held around 4.274% as Bitcoin rose 3.7% to $26,000.

Canadian stocks fared better. The TSX climbed 0.2% as the sectors were mixed. Consumer staples and real estate led the laggards while energy continued to rally. WTI crude rose to nearly $89 a barrel. Key movers were unsurprisngly oil names: Vermilion Energy up 4.63%, Precision Drilling up 4.33% and Suncor 2.53%. As on Wall Street, tech was weak as Nuvei sank 3.42%. Tilray slid 12.3% as cannabis stocks fell back after recent gains.
