RE:RE:Gold to $1700You don't understand.  Most of global trade and finance is dollar-based.  Foreign banks issue loans in dollars, even though they don't actually need to have large dollar reserves (Eurodollar system).  The Fed will help foreign central banks fund foreign commercial banks when those commercial banks are short of dollars via  so-called dollar swap lines.  But, those are not enough ATM.  Foreign central banks which don't have big dollar reserves and access to sufficient dollar swaps will sell gold in times of severe dollar shortage.  That's why we see the dollar rising and gold falling.
