250k USD School Bus Camera Upgrade Contract Approved The Washoe County School District board on September 26, 2023 granted approval for the purchase of 84 replacement school bus camera systems at $249,991.25 USD from current equipment provider GateKeeper through TIPS-USA national joinder contract.
All information and documents (pricing quote and joint contract) related to this award can be found at the school board's agenda (page 2) with the following link:

As I delved into the documents, what particularly caught my attention (besides the detailed pricing quote document) was the background information regarding the solution, specifically concerning the installation of dash and stop arm cameras. More importantly, this is not a comprehensive fleet upgrade, implying that we should anticipate future contracts, as elucidated in the document: "In 2009, the Board sanctioned the procurement of 277 school bus-specific interior video camera systems. Presently, 81% of the bus fleet still employs a version of the original system. The approval for this purchase will enable an upgrade to the camera system by leveraging existing cameras and wiring while integrating dash and stop arm cameras into those buses that have undergone retrofitting."
