RE:RE:RE:AFIRS Vs SITA's wireless gatelinkI have thought the same thing about 5G vs 4G it is starting to sound like the battle of the CD drives in the good old days.  4X speed, then 8x speed then 64x speed....etc.

If a plane was doing a very quick turn around, I can't imagine that it would need to send more data than what 4G can supply. But then again if you had an A380 that needed to do a complete avionics update? Not sure they even do that via wifi, but I guess in the distant future, they will want more bandwidth like anything else.

From all the FLYHT stuff I have read, I still don't understand why 5G is a game changer....
