There is an inherent asymmetry to trades in an illiquid retail-held stock. There are a million reasons someone might be forced to liquidate: divorce, house or vehicle purchase, hmedical bills... the list goes on. Conversely, since most retail speculators don't short, no one is ever really forced to make a purchase.
These sales can then trigger stop-losses, and so occasional large sell-offs can happen without there being any reason whatsoever related to what the company is doing.
It can be terrifying, but the best thing to do is to check if one's original speculation thesis still holds, and if so, not to be at all alarmed by this random noise.
