RE:Time to go to space

RE:Time to go to space

Jerrio78 That’s quite the blog post you got there.  Let’s start with the 65000 satellites.  This is not the number of unfilled requests but instead refers to how that many satellites will drastically interfere with naked-eye stargazing.  SpaceX plans to triple their launch cadence to 144 missions in 2024.  This will give companies a lot more opportunities to get their satellites into space.  MLS has no Cyclone-4M rocket.  It has yet to be completely built and will require 10s if not 100s of millions of dollars to complete.  You can imagine 12 to 24 launches per year but MLS’ own website states working towards 8 launches per year which is the amount allowed according to their environmental assessment.  The reason after 5 years MLS has not completed their environmental assessment is they chose to build their spaceport into an environmentally sensitive wetlands.  This area is known to be an arrival departure area for migratory birds, primary habitat for the protected NS mainland moose, as well as containing the globally unique and rare Recumbent Jack Pine.  There was at least 1 year where MLS did not work on competing their required conditions for the assessment.  If another company wants to build a spaceport in a much more suitable area, they won’t have to complete all these studies.  Saying the local communities have not seen any investments in decades is utter nonsense.  Canso and Little Dover have had new government wharfs built.  There is a modern fish processing plant in Canso.  The local fishermen continue to invest in their enterprises with new boats, wharfs, and buildings.  Our Co-op continues to modernize and has added a lumber department with it’s own warehouse.  And the waterfront development now has some kiosks with plans for a fisherman’s museum.  I could go on but you should get the point.  There has been no serious news on restaurants or hotels being built in the local area.  With the hospitality industry suffering high costs and labour shortages even well established businesses are having trouble trying to run their establishments.  In a fairly recent video the CEO stated they would only require 8 people for a launch instead of the 100 needed at the other spaceports.  He even went as far as to make fun of those spaceports.  Tim Houston never announced 100 million dollar investment for the spaceport.  The announcement was from MLS for completing the first part of the Capital Investment Tax Credit.  This is still in the sought after phase and no tax credit has been issued.  MLS announced the credit could be just over 19 million.  If this project was that great, why do you have to spread misinformation about it.
