RE:RE:Waiting for shortsYou are correct...selling short which moves the share price down and then at some point buying back at a lower price to generate a profit. There needs to be a trigger...like declaration of a special dividend or very favourable company news...that drives the price back up, thereby causing a "short squeeze " whereby the shorters scramble to buy in order to cover their position...and the share price is driven higher. Also, shorters are responsible to cover payment of the dividend if still holding on the record date, so provides further inducement for them to unload the shares, buying all the way up.
