RE:Short-term euphoria almost gone... That last spike up was the reason that I finally sold the last of our AQN after holding it since Nov, 2011. I'd seen the spike/retrace pattern way too many times with AQN. I was obviously very loyal for a long time but the time had come.
Selling an old favourtie is always tough in some ways. I'm actually shocked when I think back to how often this has happened for us with take-overs, companies doing really dumb stuff, the business changing, realizing pure renewables are cr*p, yield getting too low, etc. Our main sells that I really liked at one point or another include (take-overs bolded): AAR.UN, ECI, ENF, VNR, ALA, PKI, IPL, NPI, BEP.UN, BIP.UN, NVU.UN, GRT.UN, DIR.UN, and NWH.UN. Amazing!!
Now that we're down to just 12 stocks, I think our selling days are behind us (unless KEY gets taken over or something like that).
Quite the history.
