RE:RE:Miami transit contract?

RE:RE:Miami transit contract?

I watched it, very insightful, the part about his interview with DD was explained around 1:48:45 but he talks about GSI.V multiple times throughout his stream. His main segment on GSI.V starts at around 25:25, though the rest of the stream is also a decent watch (there were a couple picks that were on my radar before, so nice to see that Mark likes them too and his analysis of it)

While I'm not going to put too much hope in the rumors about Miami, the point about there being only 5 to 6 competitors is a very big point. I'm looking back at the LA transit documents and there were only 3 serious proposals (Hayden, Gatekeeper, and Seon) for the bid. I'd also expect some news off TTC sooner than Miami, considering that was mentioned in the LA transit bid documents relatively recently, and it wouldn't even be the first introduction of AI technology for Toronto traffic this year. Whether it's trains or buses, that's a lot of contracts in the US for just 5-6 companies to handle, I do wonder whether it'll be the suppliers fighting for contracts, or customers fighting for a slot in their backlog queue by the beginning of 2025

The timeframe of 2024-2027 is a huge opportunity for an extended bullrun, and also just short enough that it's difficult for any new competitors to enter from scratch

Here are the links to the LA transit documents that was shared here previously in case anyone needs a refresher of what GSI.V is up against (competiting against 2 companies only) plus the little mention about TTC:

Qualifications Summary of Firms within the Competitive Range:
Gatekeeper Systems USA Inc.
Gatekeeper Systems Inc. (Gatekeeper), established in 1998, is headquartered in
Foothill Ranch, CA. It provides intelligent video and data solutions designed to
provide a safer transportation environment on multiple transportation modes.
Gatekeeper currently provides License Plate Reading (LPR) cameras to school
districts such as Red Clay Consolidated School District, Habersham County School
District, Troup County School System, and Washoe County School District and
transportation agencies, including Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation
Authority (SEPTA) and Toronto Transit Commission.

As for "short selling", I wouldn't put too much thought on it. Games are played on both sides, and simple fact is the GSI.V has went up 2x in just 5 months, so many shareholders are happy taking their 2x and getting out. Short sellers are also in it to make money, not some evil entity out to get you. If the company's fundamentals are performing, they'll stay out and look for easier pickings (and the TSX.V certainly has plenty of garbage). Let's not forget where we were sitting last year at 22 cents.. not a lucrative short at all. However, if anyone's feeling really worried about it, then it could also mean you're taking more risk and volatility that you're comfortable with. It might be time to review risk management
