RE:Wow, have been following latest middle east
RE:Wow, have been following latest middle easti don't see it that way. iran has very few friends anywhere, let alone any with power. the one that does is perhaps china. but china is a friend on energy, they buy iran's otherwise sanctions barrels. china does not support higher oil prices and would try to stop that, if not they would force the barrels to be sold at much steeper discounts like india does with russia at times.
overall i dont see these developments as anything new at all. just a continuation of the usual drama. iran's regime is facing domestic uproar and oil is the real funder of the government. i dont think they are going to mess with it given how good they have it now. their arab allies have been pretty much wiped out since the 60s on the military front. meanwhile, if iran really comes under fire it would choke hezbollah in lebanon who receives weapons from iran via syria.
i just dont see this causing a real 'world war' or anything close. if iran gets out of line, i would expect they get hit pretty hard and pretty quick, likely causing massive amounts of collateral there which may lead to a more friendlier government that might actually cause more iranian oil to hit the market given it will attract international investment on both oil and natural gas.
