The latest (and most stupid; which is a signal accomplishment for the most stupid PM we have ever had) change to capital gains inclusion may well have forced someone looking at their estate to move now. Keep in mind that there are major long standing BNE investors who have been in since the egg; will have a capital gain even at current share values; and are getting on in years.
As far as I can tell, there is not enough institutional ownership to have precipitated this move. To the contrary it is perhaps more important that whatever the reason for the sell-off, the market soaked this up; some got good bargains and buying accelerated as it became clear that there was decent volume to be had. Which suggests that while we have not seen the institutional buying that we would all like, stocks such as BNE are on a lot of radars and there is interest out there.
