RE:RE:Analysis of Proposed Minnesota Statute/RegulationUnfortunately, "proposals by lawmakers who have little understanding of the industry" have a bad habbit of actually become law in state legislatures. If this bill is passed in Minnesota, "the laws in place in other jurisdictions" and "industry norms" will NOT supersede a bad state law that has been adoped in the state in which we are trying to develop a resource. It would then be necessary for PLSR and others in the industry to try to convince the MN legislature to amend its originally adopted laws, which is a LOT harder than trying to get the right adjustments to a bill before it becomes law in the first place.
As alluded to earlier, I have already been burned by industry-ignorant, environmental-fear-mongering in other states. See, for example, Arizona which is normally a more right-leaning state - but when the current Democrat Gov. Hobbs took over, the state government turned quite hostile on helium production (again industry-ignorant, environmental fear mongering), resulting in a permitting requirements situation that largely cut off a lot of seemingly exciting helium development/production that was imminent there. This is not the appropriate board to get into the details of that sitaution, but I desperately don't want a "repeat" of that story here...
