Update on helium legislation

Update on helium legislationFrom Domus on discord group.

The author of the article was not accurate in his wording.

The legislation can be found here: https://www.revisor.mn.gov/bills/text.php?number=HF3911&version=latest&session=ls93&session_year=2024&session_number=0

It clearly states: (e) By January 15, 2025, the commissioner must submit to the chairs and ranking minority members of the legislative committees and divisions with jurisdiction over environment recommendations for statutory and policy changes to facilitate gas and oil exploration and production in this state and to support the issuance of temporary permits issued under the temporary framework in a manner that benefits the people of Minnesota while adequately protecting the state's natural resources.

The intention of the State is not to hold  Pulsar up. The temporary permit will allow them to proceed, while the final version of the rule making occurs (2 years).

( I am thinking that link may show a revision of the bill as the author of that article (that mentioned a 2 year moratorium on extraction) was referring to the House Bill that was passed. It was supposed to go to the Senate today so it is good whether it looked like that at the beginning or was revised prior to the senate vote.)
