They have to prove up enough high grade resource to jump start the opportunity for Teck to build a mine more quickly. Advantage to Teck is they do not carry the long exploration phase and those costs on their financial statements and they have spent relatively little if the resource is not commercial. Teck has invested twice and own a percentage of the company. In a way you can think of Kodiak as an early exploration affiliate of Teck. None of the other big miners has invested in Kodiak or owns shares.
