RE:RE:RE:Short interest
RE:RE:RE:Short interestMVargas,
As I mentioned previously, I don't quite know or understand all the ins and outs of shorting stock.
When you say shorting of WGX is not of much concern, I don't know whether you mean WGX.AX or WGXRF.
It would seem that a short position in Australia in Westgold could be a significant problem for those that have short positions there.
Last night WGX.AX was up 5% on double regular volume. Something is triggering that move.
Keep in mind that the short position in Westgold on the OTC rose over 5,000% in conjunction with news of the merger and is currently at over 3 million shares. I don't know how to determine the number of WGXRF shares that are out there.
I don't know if a similar increase in short interest took place in Australia.
So far, the volumes don't amount to peanuts, but they could increase substantially in a heartbeat I would think.
Now comes the 64,000 dollar question.
What happens to the prices of Karora and Westgold stock when the shorts liquidate if indeed there is a squeeze? And then what happens to the prices after they are done liquidating?
Would it put the screws to the shorts if outrageous asking prices were put in on both issues by those of us who have long positions?
Could the stock prices go substantially higher for the duration of the squeeze then retreat back once those short positions are gone?
If you know any of the answers, I'd love to see them.
