Un gestionnaire de portefeuille montrealais pense avoir trouve un moyen « peu couteux » d’investir dans la Banque Nationale en achetant des actions de la Canadian Western Bank.

L’action de la Banque Nationale a chute de 118 $ a 106 $ le mois dernier aprs le devoilement du projet d’acquisition de la banque de l’Ouest. L’action de la Canadian Western Bank valait environ 42 $ au moment ou le titre de la Nationale se negociait a 106 $. Stephen Takacsy, de la firme Gestion Lester, dit avoir vu une occasion etant donne que l’operation doit se realiser par un echange d’actions et que les actionnaires de la Canadian Western Bank doivent recevoir 0,45 action de la Banque Nationale pour chaque action de la Canadian Western Bank detenue.

En presumant que la transaction se concretise – et il ne fait aucun doute que la transaction se realisera aux yeux de Stephen Takacsy –, il calcule avoir « achete » des actions de la Banque Nationale a un escompte total de 22 % par rapport au sommet de 118 $ de l’action de la Nationale atteint en juin avant l’annonce du projet d’acquisition.
