Long term most will recover but I think unfortunately some may not. It depends on how much debt they took on and if the Cre situation gets worse next year.
There is still a huge maturity wall coming for owners of office space and significant shadow vacancy. How long does the extend and pretend strategy go on for? I have no idea.
I'm an historian when it comes to the economy and I believe what I feared all along is that when the unemployment rate spikes as it has, it's never good news for equity markets and most asset classes. Believe it or not, even gold can take a hit during the early stages of a recession. Gold tends to peak just at the start of the recession and they tend to
recover before stocks do.
Who knows, maybe this time is different but
I'd rather side with history.
