Liberty Defense receives Hexwave order from TDCJ TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SELECTS LIBERTY DEFENSE'S HEXWAVE FOR CHECKPOINT SECURITY SCREENING AT CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES ACROSS TEXAS
Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd.'s Hexwave system was selected by Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to screen staff and visitors who enter correctional facilities. The award is for 20 Hexwave units that will be used at facilities throughout the state.
The order was received with the company's distribution partner, Viken Detection, after Linev Systems U.S. won the contract in a competitive public tender in the state of Texas. The Hexwave units will be deployed at the screening entrances to improve contraband detection capabilities while increasing search capacity and consistency.
The selection of Liberty Defense's Hexwave technology reaffirms TDCJ's commitment to securing its facilities with a modern-day security approach, ensuring minimized entry wait times, and enabling the most secure and safe access for all entering the facilities.
The TDCJ is responsible for the supervision of approximately 155,000 incarcerated inmates. The Texas Department of Corrections contains 51 state prisons along with several other facilities for inmates. Its mission is to provide public safety, promote positive change in inmate behaviour, reintegrate inmates into society and assist victims of crime.
Hexwave uses millimetre wave, advanced 3-D imaging and AI (artificial intelligence) to detect concealed metallic and non-metallic threats and other prohibited items. The system allows for rapid, automated screening using a high-throughput, contactless, walkthrough portal to detect liquid, powder and plastic explosives, 3-D printed ghost guns, and other contraband that enhanced metal detectors on the market do not detect.
"This is clearly a breakthrough win for Liberty and our Hexwave walkthrough screening technology over other systems currently deployed in the corrections market," said Bill Frain, chief executive officer of Liberty Defense. "The ability of Hexwave to safely and effectively screen visitors for non-metallic and metallic threats was a key decision for the award along with the small footprint and best value versus current offerings. We continue to see more demand for comprehensive threat detection in multiple market verticals like corrections, aviation worker screening and government facilities, among others."
