Looks to me as a project to keep staff busy and investors distracted while lithium prices are in the tank. I seriously question the necessity of this demonstration plant. Everything that the needed to achieve to prove that DLE is a workable process for their brine was achieved last summer/fall with the pilot. They were able to provide sample product to potential clients/partners, so why that mini demonstration plant??? I suspect that this price rally will die down when investors realize this.
That was my initial thought too. That has since changed, primarily as a result of their recent announcement that the Albert government is putting up $5 million towards to the demonstration facility. I've also been reflecting on Chris's stingy (but good) cash management. He doesn't burn through cash like there's no tomorrow, like most of the companies on Venture Exchange, so I don't think he's building a demonstration facility to keep employees busy. It's not his style.
This is a game changer IMO. It's shows the AB government is supportive, which is huge, and a demonstration facility is a reasonable ask for future partners (e.g. government and industry), when they're thinking about investing a couple of billion to bring this ground breaking project to fruition.
