RE:Us vs Canada inflation

RE:Us vs Canada inflation

Us vs Canada inflation

I've looked at the latest non seasonal adjustment cpi for both Canada and the US and here is what we know so far.

The US is doing much better if we annualize the last 3 months and 6 months of CPI prints.

US:

3 months annualized =~ 1.27%
6 months annualized =~  4%
12 months =~ 2.894%

Canada:

3 months annualized =~3.788%
6 months annualized =~ 4.85%
12 months =~ 2.53%

Canada's inflation rate is trending higher than the US in the last 3 months and 6 months. There has been some large capital injection in the Canadian Repo market which will certainly add to the inflationary pressures in the months ahead. The worst combination is higher inflation and higher unemployment and Canada is heading in that direction.
