EMP Metals Corp C.EMPS

Alternate Symbol(s):  EMPPF

EMP Metals Corp. is a Canada-based lithium exploration and development company focused on large scale resources using direct lithium extraction (DLE). The Company, through its partnership with ROK Resources Inc., holds 196,000 net (79,300 hectares) acres of subsurface dispositions and strategic wellbores in Southern Saskatchewan. Its Mansur Permit Area, Tyvan Permit Area and View field Permit Area cover an area extending 40 miles north and 40 miles east of the City of Weyburn. The Company is focused on the exploration and development of its highly prospective lithium brine properties (the Li-Brine Properties). In the Mansur property region, the Duperow formation has tested up to 190mg/l in the offsetting 141/14-12-7-11W2 well. The Company also has 101/14-36-008-13 W2M and 141/08-03-009-13 W2M (Second Test Well) wellbores, which are in the Mansur Permit Area of southeast Saskatchewan.

Successful Completion of Vertical Well Test

Successful Completion of Vertical Well Test

Today, EMP Metals (EMPS.c EMPPF) announced the successful completion of the first vertical well test (8.24) and commenced a 4-23 horizontal well in southeast Saskatchewan!

This first well aims to confirm lithium concentrations and define reservoir characteristics in the northern part of the Viewfield area.

Key Highlights

  • Core Extraction: Approximately 72 meters of core were extracted, providing crucial data on formation permeability and porosity.
  • Brine Sampling: Sampling has begun from multiple isolated zones within the Duperow formation.
  • Lab Analysis: Core samples have been sent to a laboratory in Calgary, with detailed results expected within two months.

Expansion with Horizontal Drilling

EMPS has additionally commenced drilling of its second well of the program, a horizontal well (4-23) targeting the Duperow formation, which is notable for several reasons:

  • Pioneering Effort: Believed to be the first horizontal well for lithium brine extraction in Saskatchewan and possibly in North America or globally.
  • Design Features: The well includes two parallel one-mile horizontal legs within the same high-concentration zone, targeting flow rates of approximately 1,000 cubic meters per day.

Anticipated Outcomes

  • Completion Timeline: The horizontal well is expected to be completed within the next 7 days.
  • Flow Testing: Site preparation for flow testing will follow the drilling completion.
  • Data Updates: Initial results from the vertical well brine sampling are expected soon, with ongoing updates to be provided as more data becomes available.

Paul Schubach, COO of EMP Metals, commented, "The completion of this vertical well marks an important step in expanding our resource at Viewfield. The core samples and brine analysis will provide valuable data to support our geological model and help correlate results across our land base."

"With the help and support from our technical team, field staff, and contractors, we are excited to pioneer horizontal drilling techniques for lithium brine extraction in the Duperow formation. This approach allows us to target specific high-grade zones, optimize lithium recovery, control concentration, and has the potential to significantly increase flow rates compared to vertical wells."
