David Muir didn’t just co-moderate a closely-watched presidential debate last week—he also anchored the country’s top newscast.

According to live plus same day data from Nielsen, ABC World News Tonight posted a dominant performance during the week of Sept. 9, attracting an audience of 6.933 million total viewers and 967,000 viewers in the Adults 25-54 demo so treasured by advertisers.

Interestingly, that’s a small total viewer decline of -1% for WNT versus the previous non-debate week. But the newscast did enjoy a +6% bump in the demo and extended its winning streaks to 300 out of the last 303 weeks in total viewers and 228 out of the last 233 weeks among the A25-54 crowd. Compared to the same week in 2023 (the week of Sept. 11), WNT experienced respective declines of -8% and -19% in both categories.
